Hoki

Hoki privacy policy

Hoki keeps only what it needs to answer you and to save your chats. This page explains what that is, why, where it lives, and how to delete it. See also the terms of service.

  1. 01

    Who we are

    Hoki is an iPhone app, made by Kakek Fengshui (kakekfengshui.com), that answers feng shui questions with AI. This policy covers the Hoki app and the server it talks to. You can reach us at kakekfengshui@gmail.com.

  2. 02

    Your account and Google sign-in

    To save your chats you sign in with Google, Apple or a code sent to your email. When you choose Sign in with Google, Hoki asks Google only for the basic profile scopes (openid, email and profile) and receives:

    • your name,
    • your email address,
    • your profile picture, and
    • a Google account identifier.

    We use these only to create and sign in to your Hoki account and to show your name and picture in the app. We do not access your Gmail, contacts, Drive, calendar or any other Google data. Apple sign-in works the same way with the name and email Apple shares.

  3. 03

    What you share while using Hoki

    • Your profile: nickname, date of birth, gender, and optional home details and goals. They work out your zodiac sign, element and Kua number, and are sent with your questions so answers fit you.
    • People you tell Hoki about: family members' names, relation to you, birth dates and gender, if you add them, so Hoki can include them in its answers. Please add someone only if they are happy for you to do so.
    • Chats: your questions, Hoki's answers, chat titles, and photos or PDF files you attach. If you add a compass reading of your entrance to a message, its direction is sent with that message.
    • Scans: photos you take or pick to get a feng shui score, and business names you check, with the owner's birth date and gender when you include them.
    • Reports of AI answers: when you report an answer from the chat, we keep the reason you chose, the reported answer's text, any note you write, and which chat and message it came from, so we can review it and improve Hoki.
    • Usage counts: how many messages and scans your account used each day, to apply fair daily limits.
    • Product interactions: reminder permission choices, notification opens, completed missions, milestones and daily app activity, with an event time, local date and timezone. These are linked to your Hoki account to understand whether reminders are useful. They contain no chat text or birth date.
    • Internet address (IP): used to work out your country, only to pick Indonesian or English, and recorded in daily counters when you sign in, to limit repeated sign-in attempts.
  4. 04

    How we use it

    Only to run Hoki for you: to answer your questions, score your photos, save your chats so they come back on a new phone, keep the service within fair limits, and understand and improve reminders and activities. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles.

  5. 05

    What is sent to OpenAI

    Hoki's answers, scores and chat titles are written by AI from OpenAI, our AI provider. To do that, the following is sent to OpenAI each time you use a feature that needs it:

    • your chat messages, with the recent conversation history, and the opening turns of a chat to name it;
    • photos and PDF or other files you attach to a chat, and photos you scan;
    • business names you check, with the owner's birth date and gender when you include them;
    • your profile (name, birth date, gender and home details) and the names, relations, birth dates and gender of family members you added;
    • your entrance's compass direction, when you include it in a message you send.

    Your messages and photos are also checked by OpenAI's moderation service, to keep harmful requests out. OpenAI processes this data for us under its API terms, in the United States. It does not use data sent through its API to train its models, and may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting it. Your Google profile, email address and account identifiers are never sent to OpenAI.

  6. 06

    Your choice about AI

    Hoki asks for your permission before sending anything to OpenAI. You can withdraw it at any time in the app under Profile, AI & your data. From then on Hoki sends no new requests to OpenAI, so chat, scans and name checks stop working until you allow it again. Withdrawing does not delete what is already stored; to remove that, delete your account as described below.

  7. 07

    How Hoki handles Google user data

    Data accessed. With Sign in with Google, Hoki requests only the openid, email and profile scopes, and receives your name, email address, profile picture and Google account identifier. It requests no other Google data and no sensitive or restricted scopes.

    Data usage. This data is used only to create your Hoki account, sign you in, and show your name and picture inside the app. It is not used for advertising, profiling, or to train AI or machine learning models.

    Data sharing. Google user data is not sold, rented or shared with third parties. It is stored by our service providers acting for us (Neon for the database and sign-in, Vercel for hosting), only to run your account. It is never sent to our AI provider.

    Data storage and protection. It is stored in our database in the United States, sent only over encrypted HTTPS connections, and reachable only by your signed-in account and by us to operate the service. Sign-in sessions are random tokens stored hashed.

    Data retention and deletion. It is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account in the app (Profile, Delete account) permanently removes it from our servers straight away; you can also ask us at kakekfengshui@gmail.com. You can revoke Hoki's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

    Hoki's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  8. 08

    Subscriptions

    Apple processes in-app purchases. RevenueCat verifies and tracks subscriptions for Hoki, using your Hoki account ID, store transaction information, subscription status and technical information needed to operate its SDK. We do not send RevenueCat your chat text, birth date, Google profile or email address. We use subscription records to provide Pro access, restore purchases and help with billing questions. Apple and RevenueCat keep subscription records separately from your Hoki account. Deleting your Hoki account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel it in your Apple subscription settings. Contact us for help with subscription data.

  9. 09

    Reminders and activities

    Habit reminders are optional and scheduled locally on your phone. You choose interests, frequency, reminder time and quiet hours in Profile, Reminders, where you can pause them anytime. Your reminder preferences and mission progress stay on this phone. Product interaction events wait locally while offline, then are sent to our server when you sign in and connect. We use our own database, with no advertising or tracking SDK. Signing out clears this phone's habit reminder preferences, mission progress and unsent events; deleting your account also deletes its interaction events from our server. Pro trial reminders are managed separately.

  10. 10

    Where it is kept

    • Your account, saved chats, reports of AI answers, product interaction events and daily usage counts: our database, hosted by Neon (Postgres) in the United States.
    • Photos and files attached to chats: private file storage on Vercel, readable only through your account.
    • Sign-in: handled by Neon Auth, with Google or Apple when you choose them.
    • AI processing: OpenAI, in the United States, as described above.
    • On your phone only: scan results and their photos, and your profile. Scan photos are sent to our server to be scored and are not kept there.
  11. 11

    Keeping and deleting your data

    Your data is kept while you have an account. In the app, go to Profile, then Delete account. This permanently deletes from our servers straight away your account, all saved chats with their photos and files, your daily usage records, product interaction events and reports of AI answers, and the app clears this phone's copy. If you signed in with Apple, Hoki also revokes its Sign in with Apple access, so it disappears from your Apple ID's list of apps using Sign in with Apple.

    Deleting your account does not cancel a Hoki Pro subscription: Apple bills it, so cancel it in your Apple ID subscription settings. If you signed in with Google or an email code, the same sign-in also works on the kakekfengshui.com website; that website sign-in record (name, email and picture) holds no Hoki data and is kept for the website unless you ask us to delete it.

    You can also ask us by email at kakekfengshui@gmail.com to see, correct or delete your data, and we will reply within 30 days. Signing out keeps your chats in your account for when you sign in again.

  12. 12

    Security

    Everything travels over HTTPS. Sign-in sessions are random tokens stored hashed on our server and in the iPhone's secure keychain. Chat files are private and reached only through your signed-in account.

  13. 13

    Children

    Hoki is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

  14. 14

    Changes

    If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with its date. If a change affects how your data is used, we will tell you in the app first.
